Lizzy Stein
With over 20 years of practicing yoga including the past 12 years focused as a yoga instructor, Lizzy’s passion for yoga began with attending local yoga classes and took hold while serving as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer. Connecting her mind and body through memory of an ashtanga practice allowed her to deepen her service while stationed overseas in Micronesia on the remote island of Yap. After becoming a mother she once again found her way back to the yoga mat and knew that the practices she had learned would become an integral part of maintaining balance within family life.
Fascinated by the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda and applying ancient concepts to modern life is core to Lizzy’s philosophy. While exploring postures from a dosha lens or considering seasonal rhythms, she strives to share the benefits of holistic health. Her approach to teaching is to share accessible instruction that feels safe, welcoming and uplifting. Having experienced injuries and chronic pain in her personal life, her classes tend toward alignment tips for safety, ultimate respect for each unique body, and giving space for what needs to be present. Raising children
has further impacted her style, encouraging a lighthearted atmosphere in which any and all are welcome to discover their own expressions of postures.
Lizzy has been a life-long learner and served as an educator throughout her adult life. From teaching preschool at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, to English as a Second Language in the U.S. Peace Corps, to yoga, Lizzy enjoys the continued opportunities she has to witness moments where her students are pleasantly surprised by their own abilities. Whether it is a beginner student feeling refreshed instead of sore or a vinyasa practitioner finding their own flow, she delights in guiding others.
